Living in Tokyo as a foreigner and trying to take on the daunting task of having fertility treatment in Japanese can be incredibly stressful. The treatment itself is taxing on the body and can be mentally trying even if it’s in your own language. Even more so if it’s in a foreign language. Saying this, keeping calm, healthy and relaxed is very important because the success of western fertility treatment relies not only on the physical health of the mother and father but also the mental. Think of it this way, to make a new life you have to share part of your own body, qi and blood. Kind of like breaking off a piece of your energy and giving it to the new baby. You will have less energy to share if you are emotionally and physically drained. For this reason I recommend receiving your fertility therapy in your native tongue if you can. Any way to relieve the stress of the treatment is a good way.
On that note, I recommend that you get acupuncture, exercise and keep a healthy lifestyle alongside western therapies. Exercise, a healthy lifestyle and diet help to shape and keep up your body. Acupuncture helps by balancing your body and mind. In fact, the chances of becoming pregnant and seeing that pregnancy to term are increased drastically when western therapies are combined with acupuncture.
I have noticed that many people want English speaking doctors here in Tokyo but many don’t know where to go and what the difference is between the clinics. So I decided to make a simple list of English speaking fertility clinics in Tokyo and the main differences between them. If you have any suggestions for fertility clinics please let us know!! They tend to use strong stimulation to retrieve as many fertile eggs as possible.
2) Fertility Clinic Tokyo

While they don’t have a English website they do have an English patient information form and an English speaking staff who will be able to help you.
They have their own method of fertility treatment. Compared to Sanno and Fertility Clinic Tokyo they use minimal stimulation to retrieve a minimal number of eggs. Think more quality over quantity.
